The blue light

Generated by the sun and electronic media, blue light is everywhere. But with the increasing use of electronic media, the debate about the benefits and harms of blue light has intensified.

The benefits

Blue light has always been part of our lives and has many health benefits – this component of blue light is called natural blue light.

It is responsible for regulating our “biological clock,” controlling the rhythm of sleep-wake and guiding when we should sleep or when we should be awake.

It can also increase brain activity, improving memory, mood and alertness.

The negative impacts

With the use of artificial blue light sources such as LED / fluorescent lights, television screens, computers, smartphones or tablets, the overexposure to artificial blue light has created concern for the negative impact it can have on our eyes.

Among other already proven consequences such as digital eye fatigue and dry eye syndrome, it is believed that may be responsible for retinal damage, increased risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD) or cataract formation.
